Scottship Solutions is the fractional IT consulting firm built for mission-driven nonprofits.

Since 2023, Scottship Solutions has partnered with nonprofits from $3M to $75M in revenue as their fractional CIO and AI consulting firm. We combine enterprise-grade methodology (NIST CSF 2.0, TOGAF, Lean Six Sigma) with production-grade cloud infrastructure at pricing nonprofits can actually budget for.

CHAPTER 01

Where we started.

Scottship was founded on a simple observation. The organizations doing the most important work, nonprofits, mission-driven teams, small and mid-market operators, are the ones most often taken advantage of by their technology providers. Systems get sold that do not fit. Mistakes get billed back to the client. Backups get skipped. Strategic advice gets replaced with break-fix tickets.

Our longest-standing client, the Carousel Child Advocacy Center, came to us with a spreadsheet problem. What they actually had was an operations problem costing them hundreds of hours a year. We sat down with a stopwatch, measured every step, and rebuilt the process around automation. That first engagement saved them 750+ staff hours in year one, helped train 6,000+ community members, and secured grant funding for a full prevention role.

That engagement taught us what our job actually is. Sit next to leadership. Understand the operation. Find the waste. Use technology to eliminate it so the mission goes further.

We went from drowning in paperwork to having the bandwidth to actually grow our programs. Scottship did not just fix our technology. They gave us our time back.

CHAPTER 02

Where we are.

Today Scottship is an AI consulting and managed services firm building production-grade cloud systems for nonprofits and small to mid-market organizations. We are architecture-first. We design for scale from day one. We do it for teams who do not have a CTO, a full IT department, or the budget to hire one.

We are cloud-native and platform-flexible. We build on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud depending on what is right for the client, and we hold partner credentials across the major ecosystems. What matters is that the architecture fits the organization, not that it fits a vendor relationship we are trying to protect.

Our work is grounded in three frameworks that shape everything we deliver. Most IT providers will tell you whether your firewall is configured correctly. We tell you whether your operation is wasting hours every week on a process that should take minutes, and then we follow the full cycle to fix it and make sure it stays fixed.

NIST CSF 2.0

Federally recognized cybersecurity framework. The same posture standard cyber insurance carriers, auditors, and funders expect.

TOGAF

Enterprise architecture standard. Maps how systems, data, and processes fit together so new tools plug in cleanly instead of breaking the stack.

Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC)

Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control. The methodology behind the 750+ hours Carousel recovers every year.

Scottship clients can draw on three things legacy IT firms cannot offer. A strategic advisor who understands their operation, not just their devices. Production-grade AI and cloud infrastructure at the same standard the Fortune 500 runs on. And a team that grew up in this era of technology, not one retrofitting old systems to pretend they belong in it.

We work across IT audits, cloud security managed services, AI-powered internal tools, and custom cloud infrastructure. Everything we build is designed so a non-technical team can actually use it.

Key outcomes across our engagements

$251K+
Software spend recovered through tech stack audits
7,000+
Phishing attacks blocked through layered security
75%
Reduction in manual process time through automation, process improvement, and AI workflows

CHAPTER 03

Where we are going.

The technology landscape shifted twice in the last five years. Everything moved to the cloud, and AI moved from research labs into daily operations. Most IT firms are still catching up to the first shift. Few have meaningfully started on the second.

Organizations that do not adapt are about to feel it. Cyber insurance premiums are rising faster than most nonprofits can absorb. Funders and boards expect data-driven impact reporting that legacy systems cannot produce. Staff turnover walks institutional knowledge out the door every time someone leaves. AI-native peers are doing more with less, and the gap is compounding.

Scottship’s direction over the next three years is built around this shift. We are investing in the tools, methodology, and products that let mission-driven organizations operate at the standard of firms ten times their size, without the cost structure that comes with it. The firms that emerge from this shift in the strongest position will not be the ones that bought the most IT. They will be the ones that designed their operation around what technology can actually do in this era. That is the kind of client we are building Scottship to serve.

The organizations we serve deserve the same quality of technology strategy that Fortune 500 companies get. Our job is to make sure they have it.

Dig into root causes. Improve until it is done right.

Enterprise rigor at nonprofit scale.

Frequently asked questions.

Does Scottship only work with nonprofits?

Yes. Nonprofits from $3M to $75M in revenue are our primary ICP, with independent schools as a promoted secondary vertical. We also work with small-to-mid-market businesses that share the same operational characteristics as nonprofits. We do not serve enterprises with existing in-house CIOs or full IT departments, government entities with state procurement, or primarily-religious organizations.

We combine enterprise-grade methodology (NIST CSF 2.0, TOGAF, Lean Six Sigma) with AI-native delivery (production-grade automation, custom cloud platforms) at nonprofit-sustainable pricing. Most nonprofit IT firms were founded when the biggest challenge was setting up a file server. Scottship was built for the cloud and AI era from day one, without the legacy infrastructure most firms have to protect.

Our sweet spot is $6M to $50M in revenue, 25 to 100 staff. We work with organizations from $3M up to $75M. Below $6M we typically deliver a singular audit-plus-optimization engagement rather than an ongoing retainer.

No. Scottship operates alongside your existing MSP as the strategic layer they do not provide. We handle strategy, data architecture, AI enablement, and vendor oversight. Your MSP continues to handle commodity services. We are additive, not displacing.

Three core methodologies: NIST CSF 2.0 for cybersecurity posture, TOGAF for enterprise architecture, and Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC) for operational efficiency. Every engagement produces deliverables traced to these frameworks, so your board, auditor, or funder can follow the logic.

Platform partnerships include AWS, Google for Nonprofits, and Bloomerang. Methodology credentials include TOGAF, Lean Six Sigma, and CompTIA. Industry alignment through AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals).

Scottship is registered in Lewes, Delaware, and operates remote-first with delivery coverage across the US and Europe. Our US client base concentrates on the East Coast corridor (North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, DC) with inbound clients nationwide. International work is handled on a separate engagement model.

Tech Stack Audit delivers findings in two to ten days. First fractional CIO retainer deliverables (roadmap, board report, initial quick wins) land within the first 30 days. Measurable outcomes typically show within 90 days, with compounding returns over 12 to 18 months.

Most clients start with a 10-day Tech Stack Audit. The audit surfaces where technology is blocking the mission, where spend is wasted, and where risk is undeclared. From there, clients either run the recommended fixes themselves or move into a fractional CIO retainer with Scottship. The audit is the front door. Everything after it is sized to what the organization actually needs.
